The NOVA Chorale is a group of dedicated choral professionals (singers, teachers, conductors, and students) whose goal is to bring high-quality performances of great choral music to New Orleans, the North Shore, and other area audiences. Founded in 1989 by Dr. Raymond Sprague, NOVA has offered twenty-four seasons of free concerts as the area’s premiere choral ensemble, missing only the first concert in the fall of 2005. Now under the leadership of Dr. Meg Frazier, artistic director, NOVA has grown into three performing ensembles—NOVA Chorale, NOVA VOCE, and NOVA Masterworks—providing a wider range of choral music for New Orleans audiences through an expanded, diverse concert season and collaborations with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Jefferson Chorale, and other area performing organizations.
NOVA has performed by invitation with the LPO, the New Orleans Opera Association, and the Symphony Chorus of New Orleans. We have sung at the Contemporary Arts Center, for the mass for the bicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase sponsored by the Historic New Orleans Collection, and for the St. Thomas More Society-sponsored Red Mass at St. Louis Cathedral. NOVA has been an invited choir numerous times for the Louisiana conference of the American Choral Directors Association. NOVA is proud to be affiliated with Loyola University New Orleans, holding artist-in-residence status at the College of Music and Fine Arts since 2009
